Exclusive ; Nigerian Student builds Solar Powered Car .
 A Nigerian Has developed an application for its installation in the car, the app will inform the driver about the battery level, weather conditions and other essential parameters.

In an interview to allAfrica.com Segun spoke about how he came up with the idea and eventually embodied it. He confessed his first motivation was to eradicate the causes of climate change resulting in fuel combustion.

"In the course of my research, I found out that our regular cars contribute immensely to climate change… If we could manufacture cars that do not use fuel or reduce the number of cars that use fuel; our world will be a better place for us to live in."

FIFA Lifts Ban on Nigeria.



Exclusively from Punch FIFA has lifted the suspension that was imposed on the Nigeria Football Federation on July 9, 2014 on account of interference.

A release sent to Goal on Friday stated that: “FIFA has noted that the court proceedings and order preventing the president of the NFF, the NFF Executive Committee members and the NFF Congress from running the affairs of Nigerian football that prompted the suspension have been withdrawn.

“As statutory order has been reinstated at the NFF and the legitimate bodies reinstalled, FIFA has decided to lift the suspension as of today, Friday 18 July 2014.

“The lifting of the suspension means that all rights of the NFF as a FIFA member as defined in article 12 of the FIFA Statutes are reinstated,” it said.

In its reaction, the NFF said it will commence “arrangements to ensure that the U-20 Women National Team, Falconets, travel to Moncton, Canada next week for a final training camp ahead of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup taking place in the same country, and for the U-17 boys to fly to Democratic Republic of Congo for a 2015 African U-17 Championship qualifier on Sunday, July 27.”

Nigerian Human Rights Activist Dies An Untimely Death at the age of 49



According to Sahara Reporters He came to prominence as a fighter against power abuses when, as a member of the National Youth Service Corps, he refused to shake the hand of a military administrator of Niger State, Col. Lawan Gwadabe in 1988 during his NYSC passing out parade declaring that the military had caused great harm to the democratic aspirations of Nigerians.


The human rights community in Nigeria is in great mourning today as news filtered out of the death of radical lawyer and activist, Bamidele Aturu.

Mr. Aturu died today after a period of an undisclosed illness. He was 49 years old.

The late lawyer was one of the founding members Democratic Alternative, a political group committed to pursuing deep-rooted democratic principles and holding those in power accountable to the governed.

Who shoot Sapara ??




A Unilag final year student of Philosophy simply known as Sapara was on Monday shot at the school premises by unknown gunmen who were said to be inside a moving car. His head was the target but the shot slightly missed him and bruised his head.

Sapara was immediately rushed to LUTH where he is said to be in a stable condition. Eyewitnesses after running helter-skelter say, the men where in a moving vehicle and sped off immediately they shot at him.

Prof. Olukayode Amund, the Dean of Students’ Affairs of the University confirmed the incident and says investigation is currently on-going.

Buhari Was Not Present at the Council of Elders Meeting .








According to Sahara Reporters   ; The National Council of States meeting chaired by President Goodluck Jonathan, is currently in session at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting, the second in 2014, is being attended by all former Nigerian presidents except a former head of state and presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.

The former Nigerian leaders present at the meeting are Olusegun Obasanjo, Shehu Shagari, Yakubu Gowon, Ibrahim Babangida, Ernest Shonekan, and Abdusalami Abubakar.

The Council of State, which is the highest advisory body to the serving president, consists of the Vice President, former heads of states, governors of the 36 states including Abuja’s minister, former and present Chief Justices of the Federation, the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the Inspector General of Police.

Nigerian Army clear Boko Haram Forest.



According to Chris Olukolade Troops have cleared and taken over Balmo forest in a military operation that lasted throughout the weekend. Prior to the operation, Balmo forest stretching from Bauchi through Jigawa States with links to the fringes of Sambisa forest was used by terrorists as bases and hideouts for launching attacks.

Terrorists and armed gangs operating in the forests were completely rooted out while some were captured during the operation. Among those captured were two foreigners who are suspected to be mercenaries. Also captured are several weapons and equipment including power generating sets, communication equipment, vehicles, motorcycles, foodstuff and kitchen utensils.

“In another development, over 44 terrorists have died in Kerenoa and adjoining communities, following an encounter with troops who repelled their attack on the communities. Armed with IEDs and other high caliber weapons, a large number of terrorists had carried out a predawn attack on the communities but met with stiff resistance of the troops. During the operation, several of them were captured as well as weapons and ammunitions of various calibre.

“Meanwhile, troops on routine patrol around Banki and Miyanti in Borno State during the weekend fought through an ambush laid by terrorists resulting in casualties on both sides. Altogether, a total of 6 soldiers were lost in the various encounters with terrorists during the weekend while those wounded are receiving treatment.



Security Operatives arrests Jonathan Uncle's Kidnappers.






The Department of State Service has arrested six suspects in connection with the kidnap of Chief Nitabai Inengite, uncle of President Goodluck Jonathan, at Otuoke in Beyelsa State on Feb. 23.

Briefing newsmen on the development on Thursday, Marilyn Ogar, spokeswoman for the service, said they included an undergraduate, a graduate, a native doctor and three others.

Ogar said after Inengite was kidnapped, he was taken to two different locations in Bayelsa creeks, very close to the Atlantic Ocean.

She said Inengite was held in captivity for 17 days before being released “without payment of ransom”.

Boko Haram Members Caught Materials Belonging to Nigerian Politicians.

According to ALL AFRICA The federal government yesterday revealed that identity cards belonging to some top politicians as well as party materials were found in the Boko Haram terrorists’ base in Balmo Forest in the Darazo local government area of Bauchi State.

It said that the items recovered during the last operations carried out by security forces to dislodge terrorists from their forest bases had linked some politicians and political parties to terrorism.

The coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mr Mike Omeri, disclosed this while briefing journalists on government’s efforts towards the rescue of the abducted Chibok girls.
