Police arraign man over 105kg Indian Hemp

Accrding To Punch The police on Monday arraigned one Usman Umar before the Tudun Wada Sharia Court, Kaduna, over alleged possession of about 105 kilogrammes of Indian Hemp.

Police prosecutor, Haruna Ibrahim, told the court that the accused was arrested on October 6, by a police patrol team led by Usman Alhaji of Tudun Wada police station.

He said Umar was apprehended at his house in Angwan Sanusi with three and half sacks full of the substance, each weighing 30kg, while the half bag was 15kg.

Ibrahim tendered the sacks as exhibit and were accepted and admitted by the court.

The prosecutor said the offence was contrary to section 306 and 319 of Penal Code Law.

When his plea was taken, Umar did not deny the charge, saying he had been in the business for over 15 years.

Umar, however, pleaded with the court to be lenient with him, pledging to be a changed person.
